"Hearst AppLab / Marie Claire" - Product Shots
This is the 1st of a series of projects I shot for French Press Films in partnership with Hot Studio. I was hired to shoot the table top footage, which was captured on a RED with the new MX sensor, and the short product insert at the end of the video, which was 7D. The doc/interview footage was provided by Marie Claire's in house team. It was my 1st time working with new the RED sensor. I have to say it was a dream compared to the original, where I was always fighting for latitude and sensitivity.

Grillade "Dream of You (Emotionally Yours)" - Offical Music Video
This is my second music video for French Press Films. Once again the guys were meticulous about prep, and had the song worked out down to each moment. I think it really shows in the final project.

"Invisalign" - Industrial
I shot this video with the folks over at Element 151. We did one day of B-roll at a shop where they make aligners by hand, and then a second day of interviews. Everything was shot 2 camera on a pair of Canon 7D's with a small kino and grip package.

"Strike 3" - Commercial
This is my third spot for Store Front Political Media, but the first with founder Eric Jaye directing. Eric was a great collaborator, we talked about the tone and what sort of coverage he was trying to get; then I built the shots around those ideas. After that things came together very quickly.
We shot for a half day starting pre-dawn to take advantage of the early morning light. We covered all the wides in the morning as the sun was coming up, then moved in for close ups as the day progressed. I used several 6'x6' frames of diffusion; 1/4 grid, bleached muslin, and china silk to match the morning light in the close ups. I also took advantage of the extremely shallow focus you can achieve with the s35 sized sensor of the Canon 7D to give the spot a more cinematic feel.

Berner "Hard Headed" - Official Music Video
So I've been to some crazy places in my life. I've filmed for three years in San Quentin Prison, up and down South Central Blvd in the middle of the night, and I've never been anywhere as crazy as the place we shot this video.

Glasses Malone "We On" - Official Music Video
So, when Razor told me we were doing a side show for this video I thought cool; we'll own a parking lot, set up lights, it'll all be permitted, etc. I show up and there is a HUGE side show going down! At least a hundred cars, motorcycles, go-carts, and who knows what else. We were all over, up and down, South Central Blvd in Long Beach. Every time the police shut us down we would just caravan to the next spot and all the cars and bikes would just start up again like nothing had happened. It's an understatement to say it was a crazy night!

Live 105 "Free for all" - 3D Jumbo Tron Media
This was my first 3D shoot. I did a bunch of tests looking at live parallax vs shooting parallel, and in the end we decided to shot parallel and set convergence in post. We weren't going to have that much time with Bob and we wanted to be able set up at quickly as possible, which is something of an oxymoron when you're talking about 3D.
The first shot was filmed by my friend Jason Joseffer, and I shot the stuff with Bob.

Yukmouth "The Hard Way" - Official Music Video
"Dr Kim" - Commercial
Here's a new promo I shot with Rob Genolio over at KPIX the local CBS affiliate. Everything went really well until we found out the guy who was supposed to ride his bike in the spot didn't know how! haha
We ended up waiting for a few hours in a parking lot while he learned to ride a bike, but in end it was worth it we got 2 good seconds of him coasting down hill, Yay!

The Sandwitches "Kiss Your Feet" - Offical Music Video
This is my second colaboration with Joey Izzo. So far both times I've worked with Joey I've been pretty beat up, but really happy with the results ;-) We met at 9am to drive to the location where I pre-lit till sun down; then we shot through the night and drove back home after a 40 minute nap in the morning. All that sleep deprivation really paid off because we came back with a kick ass video.

Squeez, Jacka "I Got Work" - Offical Music Video
One of the great things about the DSLRs is their size and inconspicuousness. We shot a scene in this video on Bart and in a bunch of practical locations. Oh yeah and watch out for some graphic violence about mid way through this video NSFW ;-)
